Palong Bay

Palong bay  is also known as Mata Nui is a shallow cove on the north west of Phi Phi Ley. It features a wide ledge between 6 and 10 meters that extends some 400 meters all the way to the northern tip of the island. This area is well known for the Black Tip reef sharks that are virtually guaranteed to be encountered in the shallows. The outer pinnacles are covered with soft corals and sea fans and a good place to see hawksbill turtles feeding on the bubble corals. Large shoals of Chevron Barracuda are also regular visitors here. This dive site is easily dived north to south or south to north depending on the tide.
